Organized by Poetry Place, “Art of the Word Days” is a literary gathering that explores a wide spectrum of artistic disciplines, including poetry readings, painting, photography, meditation, autofiction, bookbinding, editing, voice, theater, and artists’ books. The event brings together artists, writers, and creators from diverse fields for unique cross-disciplinary encounters.

Hebrew Book Week is one of Israel’s largest cultural events, drawing around 150,000 visitors each year to its two main fairs in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. Organized by the Israel Publishers Association, the event combines a wide-ranging book fair with live performances, children’s activities, and public readings. Celebrating literary culture in an egalitarian and pluralistic spirit, Hebrew Book Week brings together people of all ages and backgrounds.

Each year, the Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality hosts a three-day festival of literature and writing at Beit Ariela library. The festival features performances, discussions, poetry readings, and conversations about literature, writing, and art – taking place throughout the renovated library. 

It also offers professional workshops, one-on-one sessions with experts in the field, and inspiring talks with leading writers. The festival brings together prominent cultural figures, authors, and artists at the library.

Held annually since 2008, the One Square Meter Festival is a four-day event featuring 20 poetry performances and some 50 poets and artists. It focuses on books published in the past year. Events take place at Poetry Place and at local cafés, bars, hummus bars, community parks, and private homes.

Once a year, around twenty translators – both established and emerging – gather in northern Israel for a two-week residency program. The program combines workshops, lectures with key figures in the Israeli literary scene, meetings with authors, and theoretical discussions, with an emphasis on intergenerational and intercultural dialogue.

The residency creates a rare opportunity for early-career participants to benefit from the informal mentorship of experienced colleagues, working alongside them and learning from their experience. At the same time, veteran translators gain from the fresh perspectives and approaches of their younger peers.

Participants and mentors to date have included translators working into English, French, German, Arabic, Chinese, Greek, Italian, and Russian.

The Rishon LeZion Book Festival is held annually and includes a large-scale book fair, live performances, theatrical adaptations of children’s books, storytelling sessions, creative workshops, and a wide range of activities for children.

The festival opens with a festive gala evening of wandering through the library between various performances, and the following weekend is dedicated to experiential writing workshops, masterclasses, and professional panels.
The festival draws approximately 2,000 participants each year.

Since 1997, Mashiv HaRuach has held a festival featuring a series of Jewish-Israeli poetry events with musical accompaniment. It is the longest-running poetry festival in Israel and takes place each year in Jerusalem.
The four-day festival is attended by hundreds of poetry lovers and features dozens of poets from all segments of society, who give poetry readings and take part in literary discussions, alongside musical performances.
Each year, a theme for the festival is chosen from the heart of Jewish-Israeli discourse.

The Translators’ Residency was founded with the aim of promoting Israeli literature, spreading its messages throughout the world, and making it accessible to an international audience. This program, the only one of its kind in Israel and one of only a few such programs in the world, seeks to bring both young writers and the most senior authors known to readers of Hebrew to the arena of world literature.

 Every year, an Israeli literary work is selected and its translators from around the world gather in Jerusalem together with the author to work on the translations. The Translators’ Residency, which has been held since 2016, provides a rare opportunity for an ongoing encounter between translators and writers. In this way, it both promotes the translations themselves and contributes to making Israeli literature accessible to audiences around the world. Program participants benefit from the encounter and the enrichment sessions that address the language and content of the work. 

To date, the program has included translators who work in English, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Dutch, Polish, Czech, Arabic, Russian, Turkish, and Albanian.
